A Passion for Sewing and a Love of Vintage Linens...
Growing up in southern California, young Melinda Libby dreamed of summers spent at her Great Aunt Lucy's rolling estate in Montecito by the sea. Distant memories of hedge-lined cobblestone pathways leading to marble statues and iron archways, fancy benches, birdbaths, and formal gardens ... the perfect setting for an afternoon tea party where Melinda could daydream of life as an artist. Inside, dramatic silk and barkcloth drapes created the perfect hiding place for a game of hide and seek. Melinda watched with wide eyed admiration as her elderly grandmother sewed beautiful garments and formal draperies, a hobby and passion she would adopt as her own.
As an adult, Melinda pursued her artistic dreams as an oil painter, furniture maker, and talented seamstress. Her childhood love of vintage linens, combined with an untimely corporate layoff and some serious soul - searching, led her to pursue sewing as a full fledged business venture. Today, Libby Baby inspires Melinda to capture a bit of that old-fashioned nostalgia in each unique and one-of-a-kind heirloom piece. She hopes your little ones enjoy wearing their outfits as much as she enjoys creating them.
